Our objective

Our objective is to provide governance and management support to build the capacity of Aboriginal organisations in the Northern Territory to work effectively and sustainably to:


  • Deliver services and jobs


  • Develop enterprises and economies


  • Build organisational and community capacity


  • Reduce disadvantage and promote Aboriginal community wellbeing


AGMP empowers Aboriginal people by strengthening the capacity of Aboriginal organisations. We do this using the following approach:

  • EMPOWERMENT

    We strengthen the capacity of Aboriginal boards in order to create empowering and sustainable governance solutions. As an Aboriginal-run program, we work in a culturally appropriate manner and use a strengths-based approach to building skills, knowledge and confidence. 

  • ENGAGEMENT

    We develop strong relationships and strategic partnerships - creating networks for local sharing and learning. We develop tailor-made responses to each organisation’s needs and use local knowledge to co-design local solutions.   

  • LEARNING AND ADAPTATION

    We are committed to action-learning through reflecting and adapting as we go. We use an evidence-based approach to measure what is needed, if we are on track and whether we have achieved what we set out to do.
