News 25 Feb 19

Katherine-born Yawuru man, a former Director/CEO of the powerful Northern Land Council and former Australian of the Year Mick Dodson has been appointed the Northern Territory's first-ever Treaty Commissioner.

Dobson’s appointment follows the signing of the historic Barunga Agreement in June 2018, between the government and the NT's four land councils, which paved the way for consultations to begin on a treaty with Aboriginal people.

For more information about this historic appointment see the NT Chief Minister Michael Gunner’s media release.
